Certainly some finish loss to the silver colored lacquer, but no pitting or corrosion to the material the trumpet is made of. The 3 valves operate smoothly and I have oiled the valve assemblies and cylinders to keep them from getting any corrosion, they are already quite clean. 4 of the 4 slides slide open and close as they should. Some research we found online said that this is an older Conn Stencil Trumpet, made for Kalashen and then distributed by Adams. The trumpet does come with a mouthpiece that has Kalashen marked on it as well. Also, has “Distributed by Wm F Adams Phila Pa” inscribed on the bell. Would make a great gift for a special occasion, or keep for yourself! An Ebayer recently selected this item, but the trumpet did not meet their needs. The Buescher True Tone is an excellent horn, and during this period, I think that the Buescher stencils were of a higher quality in general due to the fact that they were made more faithfully to the original designs and construction quality than a lot of other maker's Stencil lines.Your horn should turn out to be a superb player, with a wonderful sound. I don't have my references where I am located at present, so I can't lock down an exact date of manufactuer, however I am certain it is around the early to mid 1920's.I collect all makes of vintage horns, and favor Conn's, however I think that you are all the more fortunate that it turned out to be a True Tone, rather than a New Wonder series I.
